THE RACE
The Stump Jump 50K and 10 Miler presented by Bad Beard Events, takes place on 90% single-track course atop Signal Mountain and Walden Ridge. With gorgeous, jaw-dropping views of the Tennessee River Gorge and lush coves of cascading streams, hemlock, and rhododendrons, these sandstone-strewn trails offer some of the most spectacular scenery in the Cumberland Plateau region.
This race is in its 25th running and has stood the test of time with locals and runners from across the world.
This is a perfect course for someone doing their first or 500th ultra.

How much of the Stump Jump is single-track?+
About 90%. The course runs atop Signal Mountain and Walden Ridge on sandstone-strewn trail.
Is the Stump Jump a good first ultra?+
It is. This is a perfect course for someone doing their first or their 500th — the course is well-marked and well-aided, and the local trail running community turns out for it.
What will I see out there?+
Jaw-dropping views of the Tennessee River Gorge, and lush coves of cascading streams, hemlock and rhododendron — some of the best scenery on the Cumberland Plateau.
What distances does the Stump Jump offer?+
A 50K and a 10 Miler.

Race day
50k starts at 7:30 am EST Saturday, March 6th, 2027
10 Miler starts at 8:30 am EST Saturday, March 6th, 2027
All races start and finish at the Signal Mountain Soccer Fields behind Signal Mountain High School on Sam Powell Rd .
We will have La Sportiva and Rossignol onsite to demo shoes
**NO CREWS. NO DROP BAGS** POLES ARE ALLOWED
EXTRAS: All runners will receive shirts, a post-race meal, and free beer from Dynamo Brewing.
Aid Station Details:
PLEASE BRING A CUP as well as your regular hydration gear.
Aid= water, Gatorade, and snacks guaranteed. Certain stations will have other items: cokes, ginger ale, possibly gels, Oatmeal Creme Pies, Pickles, Chips, PB&Js, and fruit.
Cutoff Times
The 2027 Stump Jump 50k will have a 10-hour cut-off.
Indian Rock House (Outbound) @ mile 14.5........4hr cut-off........ 16:33 per mile
Mullen's Cove Parking lot @ mile 23.3.........7hr cut-off..........18:25 min per mile
Please be respectful of race officials if you are asked to drop - no discussion. You will be provided with transportation back to the start/finish.
Again, there is a 10-hour cutoff time at the finish (5:30 pm).
Refunds / Transfers / Deferments
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS: There are NO refunds, transfers or deferments. We do not have the capacity to mail awards, shirts, forgotten gear etc. Thanks!
Proceeds
A portion of the race proceeds will benefit Signal Mountain Athletics and Chattanooga Cave and Cliff Rescue
Camping/Where to Stay
Camping will be available at the S/F. Tent set up is on the soccer fields. There are no RV hookups but RV's are allowed. No showers but access to many bathrooms at the pavilion. If you are interested in camping on Friday or Saturday night, please email ginny@badbeardevents.com. It’s about a 20 minute drive from downtown Chattanooga to the start. The hotels downtown are all wonderful and I’d check Airbnb’s on Signal Mountain if you want to stay close but not camp.
