About Stump Jump

Takes place on a 90% single-track course atop Signal Mountain and Walden Ridge. With gorgeous, jaw-dropping views of the Tennessee River Gorge and lush coves of cascading streams, hemlock, and rhododendron, these sandstone-strewn trails offer some of the most spectacular scenery in the Cumberland Plateau region. Elevation gain for the 50K is over 5,000 ft.

How the day ran

RACE DAY DETAILS

The 2025 Stump Jump celebrated the Southeast's premier trail challenge atop Signal Mountain and Walden Ridge. 90% single-track through the Cumberland Plateau with Tennessee River Gorge vistas and stream-fed coves lined with hemlock and rhododendron. A celebration of trail running and unrivaled community.

50K: 31.9 miles with ~5,000 feet of elevation gain on 90% single-track. 10 Miler: separate mapped course from the same start/finish.

Cutoffs — Indian Rock House (Mile 14.5): 4:00 (16:33/mile) · Mullens Cove (Mile 23.3): 7:00 (18:25/mile) · 50K Finish: 10:00 (5:30 PM)

Awards — All runners received a race shirt, post-race meal, and complimentary beer from Dynamo Brewing. Course records (new course): Lea Mulligan 5:21:30 (F) and Seth Ruhling 4:09:28 (M).

Start/Finish: Signal Mountain Soccer Fields, 2650 Sam Powell Rd, Chattanooga, TN. NO crews, NO drop bags, NO refunds/transfers/deferments. On-site shoe demos from La Sportiva and Rossignol. Camping on the soccer fields $10/night benefits Signal Mountain School (no RV hookups, no showers). Proceeds benefit Signal Mountain Athletics and Chattanooga Cave and Cliff Rescue. Our races run on volunteer power — course marshals, aid stations, packet pickup, finish-line cheer squads.

You don't need experience. Bring a thermos, decent layers, and a willingness to clap loudly. We'll plug you in.
